Merger Photo

1. Spacing out myself, in the photo the distance between each ghost of the student is not equal.

2. I think the field in the center of the track would be a good place to shoot this kind of thing.

3. Yes, I can do something where I slowly run away and become smaller and smaller, or I could do a cool thing where I show a person's progress as they climb up a tree, which I think is a better idea, but harder to do because I need someone else and a good tree...

4. Something that contrasts with the background I am shooting in, so it would be easier to spot me. In the setting I described, black, blue, or red could be good colors.

Warm-up

1. My favorite photo was the green canyon with the person in a canoe. It just really appeals to me for some reason.

2. Some photos seem like they kinda could be taken with a phone, but not with its original camera. They all look really good for an iPhone.

3. I think the apps impacted pretty much all of it. I can imagine someone using an app to shoot, modify, and transfer the photo.

4. One, to try my best at getting a great image and using rules of photography. Two, get an app or extension to help shoot or modify the photo.

HDR Photography Intro

1. I will need to change the shutter speed of the camera to capture the darkest and lightest part of a scene, making a range of dark-light photos. I could also use an Auto Exposure Bracketing feature in the camera to make sure the camera doesn't move too much.

2. We will be using: A decent (in our case great) camera, A tripod, and an HDR photo-blending software.

3. Someone would want to take an HDR image 1) because they look so cool and amazing and 2) To show a high-contrast scene.

4. We will probably see slight movement, because we would have moved the camera a little bit when shooting. We could also see differences, such as things moving inside the scene or maybe like a person.

Final Exam Warm Up

1. Probably this weekend or definitely next weekend.
2. At my house.
3. It will be about cooking my favorite meal, if I cannot think of a more original story.
4. Just a normal camera :)
5. I will use video portions when I am straining the spaghetti, just an overview when we are cooking the beef and spaghetti, and we are putting it on a plate, and eating. The Stills will be going to HEB, the slow pictures of more ingredients, when the spaghetti and sauce, and trust the transitions in between the video. My narration will be where the video portions are.

Final Exam Preview

1. First, I watched a video about how to start a project and a basic introduction. It told me about titles, splitting videos, and the different viewing modes. It also showed how to export the video and add effects.
Second, I read 5 pdf files about some of the real basic things, the ones you could understand using your intuition. They covered stuff like adding clips to the project, creating a new project, and importing video. It also taught about how to add sounds, titles, and adjusting clips.
2. I already knew how to start a new project, and both websites explained that.
3. I didn't know how to split clips in iMovie, which I probably wouldn't have figured out.
4. I am concerned if I can get a good idea and enough of the video, narration, and photos.
5. I am confident I can use some of my brain in making an idea. I mean really, there is only a few  clear answers to this question, and that would be the photos, videos, and/or idea. And I am not confident I can finish any of those ahead of time.
6. If you asked me today, I would say I would tell the story of something being baked.

My opinions story

On Saturday, May 7th, Austin citizens will have the chance to vote for a proposition called Prop 1. This will decide how background checks for ridesharing companies like Uber and Lyft will be regulated.

Ridesharing Works for Austin is the organization pushing the proposition, and a decent amount of people agree with their views. After research, I personally disagree and believe that a no vote is the better choice here.

Last December, the city council voted for the ordinance put in place currently. This ordinance does have fingerprint based background checks.

If Prop 1 passes, then the current ordinance will be repealed, Uber and Lyft will be responsible for background checks, and drivers will not have to give their fingerprints.

If Prop 1 is rejected, drivers will have to undergo fingerprint based background checks done by the city and run through the FBI’s database.

Officials with both companies have criticized fingerprint requirements as overly burdensome and unnecessary. Drivers working fewer than 20 hours a week are critical to the reliability of their services, they say, and requiring them to visit an office to be fingerprinted dissuades many from signing up. I can completely see their point, and I acknowledge how the current laws are detrimental to them. However, having people giving their fingerprints isn’t nearly as important as the public’s safety.

One of the main things that really unsettles me about Uber and Lyft doing their own background checks is that in San Francisco and Los Angeles, Uber had been ordered to pay 10-25 million.

Apparently, Uber had misleading claims about the quality of its background checks. Do we really want that kind of trouble in Austin? And that isn’t the only misleading thing.

Some of you may have seen the Prop 1 commercial explaining the benefits of Prop 1. But this commercial is deceptive. The commercial implies that if Prop 1 pass and take effect, that background checks will not be required, which is completely wrong.

The truth is that there will be background checks no matter how the vote turns out. The ad was created to make the viewers think they are voting for background checks, not for Uber and Lyft to do the background checks. And let me ask you this: Why else would a group be deceptive to the public if they weren’t lying or hiding something?

Uber’s aggressiveness for Prop 1 is shown when Uber threatened to cease operations in Austin if the proposition is not accepted. But in Houston, they have continued to operate despite a regulation that requires drivers there to undergo fingerprint based background checks.

Not to mention the companies are desperately trying to buy out their opposers, donating 2.2 million dollars for Prop 1 to pass.

The ballot will also ask voters if the original ordinance should be repealed and replaced with a law that would “prohibit required fingerprinting, repeal the requirement to identify the vehicles with a distinctive emblem" and "repeal the prohibition against loading and unloading passengers in a travel lane."

Prop 1 will cause the companies to be able to control all background checks, allowing them to be deceptive just like they were in San Francisco. However, if we keep our current regulations, background checks become more thorough, and the people safer. So who do you listen to: the deceptive, rich businesses, or the city council we have ourselves voted for? Don’t fall for Prop 1, and vote a straight, fat, NO to Prop 1.

Personal Essays

1. Whatever you strongly care about is a good thing to write about.

2. "Make (your) emotions real and immediate by noting specifics and details that draw the reader into the experience, rather than just setting them aside as observers."

3.
  • In a personal essay you have the freedom to think what you like on a subject, but your reader should go away with a good idea of why you feel that way.
  • Think of your essay as a camera lens. You might start by describing a fine detail (your personal experience or perspective, a specific moment in the narrative), then open up the lens to take in the wide view (the general/global backdrop), then close the piece by narrowing back to the fine detail. Or go the other way. Start with the wide view, focus in, then open up to the wide view again.
  • Write as evocatively as possible. Employ all the senses. Using sight comes naturally to most writers; push harder to convey ideas and images through sound, taste, touch, and hearing.

A. A hard news story has a lot more quotes from interviewed people. A hard news story does not have a direct opinion from the author, it has more facts. Finally, a hard news story has a real-life photo, not an art piece.

B. I think there were less photos because this was less of a news story and more of opinions, and you can't depict opinions very well with real-life photos.

C. New laws/policies, Controversies, and the presidential race/election, especially if there was a person writing for the major sides.

Finished Earthquake story

On Monday, the earthquake caused a building housing Mc Henry's Auto Supply to partially collapse.

The earthquake happened at 8:12 a.m. PDT time, hitting all over in San Francisco, with the Hayward area receiving the most damage. The collapse happened at 2342 Plum St, killing 2 people and injuring 6 others. Some people were also trapped inside the rubble and remains of the building. There were an estimated 18 people in the building at the time of the earthquake.

"The names of the dead are being withheld pending notifications of families," Hayward public information officer Jennifer Vu from the Hayward Fire department said.

3 of the 6 injured were hurt seriously enough and had to be hospitalized.

"Those 3 people were quickly transferred to Hayward General Hospital," Vu added.

Hayward firefighters, alerted from 54 different 911 calls, had to use ropes quickly to stabilize the shop, allowing the injured and others to get out safely.

"Twenty-one fire personnel, 12 police and five American Red Cross workers responded to the building collapse, with some of them arriving within four minutes of the quake," Vu said.

The earthquake was definitely a scary and destructive one, putting many lives in danger as well as doing considerable damage to the city in general..

"I was eating my breakfast when the room started rolling. I dove under the table just as I heard an explosion outside and a chunk of cement flew through my kitchen window. That’s when the screaming started across the street," Hayward resident Mike Beamer said.

The earthquake was measured as a 6.4 on the Richter scale, reaching all the way from Los Angeles to Redding.

"The epicenter of the quake was on the Hayward fault, just under the Hayward hills," said Penny Gertz, a scientist from the U.S. Geological Survey in Menlo Park.

Huntington Story

Who: Janice Jones
What: Shot through the right leg
When: 10 p.m. Wednesday
Where: Beach Boulevard near Highway 1
Why: Dog knocked gun off of a seat.
How: Gun fired when it hit the floor.

Story:

Janice Jones got shot through the leg about 10p.m. Wednesday near Highway 1 and Beach Boulevard.

Jones was eating pork chops in her motor home when her dog knocked over a gun on a seat nearby. The gun fired when it hit the floor, the bullet going through her right leg.

"It could have been worse," California Highway Patrol press liaison Tammy Rye said. "The bullet hit two inches from the gas tank."

Jones was taken to Huntington Beach hospital by ambulance, then moved to Irvine Medical Center.

"Jones was treated at Huntington Beach," says Huntington Beach Hospital spokesperson Jim Washington.

The dog was found malnourished and with cigarette marks on its forehead.

“It could have done with a little less abuse and a few more of those pork chops,” Janet Ngo said, one of the  Huntington Beach animal control officers.

Jones may be charged for animal abuse and relating to the incident, for she had no license for the gun.

News Values

Novelty

I believe this is a story based on novelty because when does a kid almost choke on an octopus? I mean, other things like toys are normal, but an octopus is a really weird thing to choke on.

Toddler who choked on octopus recovering

Conflict

I believe this story is based on conflict, for if many Belgians are starting to want to succeed into Flemish, that is most definitely conflicting the other half who aren't in Flemish. This is nowhere to being close to the Americas, so it can't really affect the audience of this post either.

Rattled by Attacks, Many Belgians Still Want Nation Split in Two

Prominence

I think this is a Prominence because Sea world is a big company, or at least used to be. Also, this is a huge change for SeaWorld, and I wonder what their next step will be.

End of an era: Sea World yields to critics of killer whale shows, which will change

The Sea World group of three marine parks responds to negative attention focused on a main attraction – black-and-white killer whales performing stunts for visitors. The current 29 whales on display will be the last generation of orcas at the wildlife parks in Orlando, San Diego and San Antonio. Sea World, which stopped capturing wild whales more than 30 years ago, now will stop breeding the magnificent, intelligent creatures to phase out their display. In the meantime, rather than having them leap and twist in response to trainers' signals, it will present a "more naturalistic show and environment for our orcas," says Joel Manby, president and chief executive. "And we're going to teach all of our customers about the plight of them in the wild."

Novelty

I think this is a novelty-based story because if the whole jetpack thing works out, we(the public) will probably still be unable to use them anytime soon. Also, a jetpack is kind of unusual, and its still weird to think jetpacks being sold to anyone.

Jetpack firm nears liftoff but creator opts out

Glenn Martin was sitting in a bar with his college buddies 35 years ago when they got to wondering: Whatever happened to flying cars and jetpacks?

Conflict

This story shows conflict between ISIS and, well, everyone else in the world. ISIS kidnapped many factory workers northeast of Damascus.

ISIS Abducts Workers From Cement Factory in Syria

Novelty

This story is about a person who has wrote down his language to make sure that even when it may never be spoken, the culture is preserved. So since this is not very common in life or in news stories, I think this is a story driven by novelty.

An Heir to a Tribe’s Culture Ensures Its Language Is Not Forgotten

Proximity

This story is about MoPac and how a lane will be closed for quite a while. Since this will only affect people in Austin, and it is not very interesting to any other people, this has to be a story based on proximity

MoPac lane closure starts Sunday

The right lane of northbound MoPac Boulevard (Loop 1), from 35th Street to 45th Street, will close for up to six months starting Sunday morning, giving crews more room to work on the ongoing toll lane construction project.

Nut Graf

A nut graf is probably the most important paragraph in a news story. It, from what I've gathered, contains the part of the story that tells the reader why this story is important. It answers the reader's question, "Why should I bother reading this story?" It also helps the reader see where the story is going and whether or not they want to read the story.
The nut graf is also used to answer whatever 5W's and 1 H wasn't answered in the lead, or first paragraph. It's used to explain the lead as well and how it relates to the rest of the story. After reading the lead and nut graph, the reader should know what the story is about. If he/she cannot do that, then the nut graf is not written well enough the way its supposed to.

Student of the Month Story

Who- Freshman Aurora Rochin
What- April Student of the Month
Where- Bowie High School
When- Recently
Why- Because of academic and after school excellence
How- Administration chose

On Monday, April 4th, a new student was chosen as the April Student of the Month.

Freshman Aurora Rochin was chosen by the Bowie Student Council for excellent performance in and out of school.  When the council chooses the new Student of the Month, they look at 3 things: grades, afterschool activities, and how the student acts with other Bowie students.

Rochin was the clear choice to be Student of the Month. "She excelled in each requirement to be a Student of the Month and was just amazing anyway," Student Council principal Ashley Hielman said.

We asked Rochin how it felt being the Student of the Month. "I feel great and surprised (that I was chosen), but I feel like I am going to be the worst Student of the Month ever," Rochin said.

To be even considered for Student of the Month the student has to be involved in after school activities. "We didn't want to choose the Student of the Month solely on grades, because that's not what school is. There is more to school than just grades," Student Council Secretary Jeremy Espina.

Rochin is active at school even after the 4:20 bell. "I do a lot of homework, tutor my friends, and do some JROTC activities after school," Rochin said.

Being the Student of the Month is not celebrity-status, but it still is a pretty exciting award. "I was shocked and was so happy when I heard I was the new Student of the Month. I felt so proud of myself," previous Student of the Month Julie Andrews said.

Having extra activities, or even just wanting to do other activities, makes doing your school work a lot harder. "I put schoolwork before of activities, and I motivate myself by telling myself that after I finish my homework I can do those activities I like," Rochin said.

We always ask each new Student of the Month how they study. "I listen to music, it helps me focus. I need something in the background going on to study. I also work on schoolwork one at a time." Rochin said.

Portfolio Analysis - how judges pick winning portfolios and sports photos

Part I

1)
    a. Travis Haughton
    b. Kids
    c. The frame was too tight, what was the point of the photo, and a little too much of little kids
    d. The point of view on the sports pictures, and in the gymnastics photo there was a lot going on.
    e. I thought that he was alright, though I agreed that he needed to zoom out a little on some of his photos. His point of views were interesting though.

    a. Nick Adams
    b. Sports
    c. Not enough story, frame too tight, focus off in 1 picture.
    d. Some pictures were close to be good, certain photo had good framing.
    e. I thought he was pretty good, with all of his good ideas, but some of the photos I didn't get the story behind it.

    a. Jordan Murph
    b. Sports
    c. Some photos were missing something, some photos didn't fit in, 1 photo story was completely different and worse than others.
    d. Good composition, good lighting
    e. At the beginning when he showed his best, I knew immediately that his photos were just generally a lot better, but at the end he kinda killed his chances by putting too many photos and showed bad photos.

2)
    a. He is upright in there in the middle of it, everyone is doing something, and his photos are creative.
    b. I thought on some of the photos he had great point of view and that his photos were creative and different. They all had a story, and I can't see a general weakness.

3)
    a. They looked at the ones that they looked at before and considered them to maybe be the winner, then they eliminated one because they had messed up some of their photos, then they got rid of the other one because it didn't have enough diversity. So, feeling, are there bad photos, it is diverse enough?

5. Is there information on how much it cost to build? 17 million Canadian.
6. Is there a reason the building was created or the history of the building itself? It was created with the purpose of making affordable housing in urban areas with a decent amount of space. Suburb house in an urban setting.
7. Why did you pick this building? I picked this building because I have went to Canada before. It also sounds a little weird, so I wanted to see it.

Action Photo Shoot

Luke is running away from a crashed vehicle.  The vehicle crashed because of a drunk driver who went the wrong way on the road.

Luke tiredly jogs in the courtyard. He is not eager to jog this early in the morning.

Luke runs with a burst of speed. He is determined to not make taking this photo a walk in the park.

Luke blurs out of clear vision with his running. Extreme novice photographer Rami A. managed to catch this blurred speed.

Sensory Overload

The last sentence of the story says:

"I believe that more and more, we are defining our environments not as the spaces themselves, in terms of the buildings or architecture, but rather by the objects and devices that we buy and surround ourselves with. ... I would like that message to carry through universally," Seymour said.

1. I think that he is not wrong, but he is not completely right. People still do define their environments by the architecture of the place, but just not as much. This made me feel that props might have more impact on a photo than I might think.

2. Maybe the outside of each individual stall, a row of them, or the kids playing or what it looks like near the stalls but not inside.

3. I think I would consider everything normal, and maybe help them a little bit with the shop when I am young and take over a little bit when I am older.

4. I like the photo with all of the artificial flowers because there are so many colors in that one and there is a nice little middle line.

Lone Star Dispatch Issue #4

Front Page- A new policy for transfers takes effect

Next school year, there will be a new transfer policy. The new policy says that transfers will be only allowed at campuses with space available, to stop overcrowding at high schools. This makes  Bowie and Akins considered as "frozen" schools. Even students that have already completed their transfers are at risk to be transferred to the high school that  they are zoned to.

1.
   a) AISD
   b) A new transfer policy
   c) Austin
   d) The 2016-2017 school year
   e) To stop schools from overcrowding
   f) Transfers will only be accepted at schools with space available.
2. Andri Lyons,  Jessica Torrez, and Michaela Gero are all quoted.
3. I believe that Gero's quote was the strongest, because since she is a senior she is the closest person directly related to the rest of us, the student body. We can all easily imagine how it would be to change schools, as mentioned in her quote.
4. The lead sentence did make me want to keep reading because it made me wonder what transfer policy would take effect and if it affected me.
5. The last sentence is a statement.

Student Life- Reaching the perfect balance

This story is about Bryana Johnson and how she handles her schedule with 2 jobs and going to school. She works to gather money for college, learn how to manage money, and to be able to pay for personal things without having to ask for money from her parents. However, Johnson says that you should always make education and your own happiness and well-being a priority over a job and your job should never take those away from you.

1.
   a) Bryana Johnson
   b) Handling school and 2 jobs
   c) Austin
   d) Now
   e) To be able to have her own money and to learn how to manage money.
   f) She is able to finish schoolwork quickly, and she is able to manage her time for both jobs and recreation.
2. Bryana Johnson, Annalisa Gonzalez, Taylor Beltz, Vicki Vohl, and Amy Lopez are quoted.
3. I think that Johnson's long quote in the middle was the strongest quote.
4. The lead sentence didn't really make me want to read more.
5. The last sentence is a quote.

News- FFA takes T.C.Y.S. by a storm

Many Bowie students in FFA went to TCYS and got placement ribbons but most importantly life lessons. Each student chose the animal that best suited their needs and time frame, and they took care of them daily. Unfortunately, many of the rabbits got sick with a fatal illness. But this also made students realize that they can't get too attached, but they know how it feels to lose an animal.

1.
   a) Bowie Students
   b) Many FFA students got placement ribbons.
   c) T.C.Y.S.
   d) January 14-16
   e) Students who placed felt achievement and became proud of themselves.
   f) Through hard work and hours spent on caring for their animals.
2. Kylee Rhorer, Jamie Muras, Brandon Parker, and Kate Buning were quoted.
3. I believe that Buning's last quote was the strongest.
4. The lead sentence did kind of make me want to read more because i was wondering what life lessons they learned.
5. The last sentence is a statement.

Front Pages of the World

1. My favorite front page were the ones where there was a semi-big horizontal picture and the text fitted around it. I liked the ones that weren't too flashy also, because then it looked like a magazine. I guess The Tennessean would be a good example.

2. My favorite headline from it today i guess is Aid to Rural Hospitals (my actual favorite is where it says where the comics are) because the other two are politics and music and I'm not interested in those at all.

3. There are 4 stories on the front page.

4. Every single newspaper has their newspaper name at the top and a main photo. Every newspaper also has multiple photos and stories on the front page. The story text is mainly black and each newspaper also has a barcode.

5. One thing that varies is how big the main photo is, whether it is on the left, right, or centered. The text size and color also change for the titles, headings, and other text, and the amount of stories and photos also vary. The whole color theme for each paper changes as well.

Extra Credit

Website: http://digital-photography-school.com

The intention of this website is to help photographers get better at shooting, editing, etc. They write tips on how to shoot better pictures, how to edit photos to make them better, reviews on  equipment, and also what equipment could really help you make better photos. An average viewer would get a lot of information including all of the above and what to do in certain situations. There are 3 sections: Photography Tips and Tutorials, Post Production, and  Cameras and Equipment. I found a lot of detail in the articles, which is always useful. I also found a LOT of articles, and that was only in one section, so there is a lot of information waiting to be read. The website itself looks friendly and clean, and there are subsections, filters like most popular or recent, and a search box to top it off so that if you want to get any specific articles or knowledge, you can do so. I personally won't add this page to my bookmarks, as I would forget about it or have something else I have to/want to do. I would, however, recommend this website for those who love photography and want to get better and know more about it. I would give it a good 5 because everything on the website is for photography, even the ads, the website is nice and easy to access, they have extra information about books and even courses, and so, so much more.

This is one of the pictures that I really liked from the website. I found it in an article about the cold and how to deal with it in temperatures such as -40 degrees fahrenheit. This came in the beginning, but some of the photos after this one were of equipment and a person bundled up in clothes. The sun is glowing through the cold, white trees and I feel like I can almost see the warmth the sun gives. Its one of those moments where you can see the sun's rays quite clearly, and you just stand there, absorbing the scene. it must have been even more beautiful in person. The contrast between the sun and trees id just  really appealing to my eyes and I love this photo. I thought someone else might also love to see this as well, so thats a reason why I chose this picture. The other reason was, of course, that I thought it looked amazing.

Magazine Cover Peer Review #3

1. The name of the magazine was holiday weekly by Kiran.

2. I liked the color scheme of the cover, how the title stood out, and how the picture in the background fitted the theme of holidays.

3. I think that if you moved the teasers around some more so that they would be easier to see, that wold be a good improvement.

4. I picked this cover because of how the title jumped out at you and because the color scheme was nice.

5. There is a barcode, but it might be a tad too big.

6. No, because I would be too busy looking for Popular mechanics, Science, or MAD. :)

7. No, I really don't know if its a portrait or self-portrait.

Magazine Cover Peer Review #2

http://bonniesphotojournal.blogspot.com

1. The magazine I chose is called Monthly Music and is was made by Bonnie Campbell.

2. I like how they made the cello in color, but not themselves. Also, the viewpoint makes it feel like it is less about the person and more about the music and instruments, with help from the color.

3. First, please make the "w" in what a capital. That annoys me so much. Also, I say you should put the page numbers next to some of the teasers, so the magazine would be more like real ones because they have page numbers next to their teasers.

4. I picked this cover because of the difference of color and just because it has an orchestra instrument, I used to be in orchestra.

5. There is a bar code appropriately sized and placed correctly.

6. I might because of the color difference.

7. This was a self-portrait, because the other cover was a young boy.

Magazine Cover Peer Review #1

1. The magazine that I looked at was called Motocross and it was made by Conner Pearson.

2. I really liked the picture in the background, it was pretty cool, and I also liked the colors used
because it went well with the background.

3. I think that if you had put the writing farther up near the title, it could have looked better with there being more sky next to the person.

4. I picked this cover because I really liked the picture in the background, it is uncommon and cool.

5. There is an appropriately sized barcode in the right place.

6. I would look at it, because of how the picture was cool and I would want to look at it more.

7. I'm pretty sure that is a portrait because he would have to have been on the ground shooting to get that image.

Prompt Shoot Peer Review

Link: http://jakewrightphotojornalismblog.blogspot.com

1. I like the "Pause" photo best because I hadn't thought of looking at the word this way. Of course, since the clock isn't moving, it displays "Pause" well.

2. My least favorite image would be the one with the prompt "Pose" because I can't tell what the person is doing and his hands are slightly blurry. It didn't look like a pose because it seemed as the person was maybe getting into a pose, not already in one.

3. I really like the angle that he showed the clock from, it really shows the subject and is just nice. Also, I like how he actually included his shoe in the picture "Footprints" because most people I saw just did the prints.

4. He could improve on taking photos of people.

5. I think he portrayed the Pause photo better than all of the others.

6. I think that he portrayed the Pose photo least successfully than all of the others.

My Holiday

One thing I will remember that happened during the holiday was me going with my friend and family to the Trail of Lights. It was really fun, because doing it with people you know is way better than alone, and it gives more unique experiences.

Some of my resolutions are to try to learn how to code, try to keep eating healthy, to physically play or just move more, and to be able to control my time on devices better.

I am looking forward to learning how to code, ending this school year, enjoying the summer, having a fun time with my friends and family and just having a (hopefully) great year!

Prompts

1. What was the best song of 2015?

I liked Take Me To Church by Hozier. I liked it because it was one of the few songs I remembered this year and it had a good beat and feel to it that I liked. It wasn't too energetic, or boring. It had the right balance.

2.What was the best movie of 2015?

My favorite movie would be The Force Awakens because I love Star Wars and the whole idea of it. I love how they brought you back into it and how they introduced the characters. Also, it was the movie that everyone was talking about and waiting for.

3. What was the most important news story of the year?

The most important news story is that countries are closing their borders to refugees and the U.S. is facing the same choice. These people are running way from death, danger, and war, but the countries block them from leaving the area. In my opinion, this is an important issue and one that shouldn't be an issue.

4. Who was the important person of 2015?

Sadly, I think Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi is the most important person of 2015 for all of his bad deeds. He is the leader of ISIS, so he is the one responsible for a lot of trouble in the Middle East, an area that had a lot of trouble already. He is important because countries over the world are searching for him to stop him and his organization.

5. What was the biggest sports or entertainment story or sports/entertainment person of 2015?

I think that Jimmy Fallon was the biggest entertainment person as a comedian, because of all of the fans and popularity he had gained. I like him, and he has been getting a lot of attention. With the Tonight show, I definitely think he is the biggest, most well-known comedian, which is why I picked him.

3 Favorite Photos of 2015

This was one of my favorites because you don't see this often, how the northern lights were shown with long exposure. This is the first time I had heard of it or seen it, and I thought the blend of colors looked interesting.

I chose this one because it was up close and gave a lot of detail. I had seen many pictures of  canyons, but they were all pretty big and the photo showed the whole canyon from the top. This one is from the bottom and up close.

I liked this one mostly because of how the photographer displayed all of the colors and surrounding environment. It was a very pretty and colorful scene, and did actually give a storybook feel.
