Nut Graf

A nut graf is probably the most important paragraph in a news story. It, from what I've gathered, contains the part of the story that tells the reader why this story is important. It answers the reader's question, "Why should I bother reading this story?" It also helps the reader see where the story is going and whether or not they want to read the story.
The nut graf is also used to answer whatever 5W's and 1 H wasn't answered in the lead, or first paragraph. It's used to explain the lead as well and how it relates to the rest of the story. After reading the lead and nut graph, the reader should know what the story is about. If he/she cannot do that, then the nut graf is not written well enough the way its supposed to.
